What we publish

Every submission must be directly relevant to audiobook creation or independent publishing. Useful subjects include narration and casting, home or professional recording, audio editing and mastering, rights and contracts, audiobook distribution, manuscript editing, ebook and print production, accessibility, metadata, launch planning and lessons from a real publishing project.

A strong article solves a recognisable problem for independent authors. It should leave the reader with clear explanations, practical steps or an informed way to compare options. Personal experience is welcome when it supports a broader lesson rather than simply promoting the author or a service.

Originality and authorship

Submit an original piece that has not been published elsewhere, including on a personal blog, newsletter or content platform. Do not submit plagiarised, lightly rewritten, spun or bulk-generated material. The named author must have shaped the argument, checked the facts and be able to answer editorial questions about the work.

AI tools may be used for limited assistance such as brainstorming or proofreading, but undisclosed machine-generated drafts are not accepted. Tell us if generative AI materially contributed to the text, research or examples. Never use AI-generated quotations, experiences, case studies or sources.

Write for readers, not search engines

Use a clear, specific title and descriptive subheadings that help a reader scan the article. Answer the question naturally, define specialist terms and include concrete examples where useful. Do not repeat phrases unnaturally, force keywords into headings or pad the article to reach a word count.

We assign a small number of consistent topic tags after acceptance. Suitable tags may include Audiobook production, Narration, Audio editing, Ebook formatting, Editing, Self-publishing, Distribution, Rights, Accessibility and Book marketing. Tags must describe the article accurately; they are not a list of every phrase someone might search for.

Evidence, links and accuracy

Link to primary sources for platform rules, technical specifications, laws, standards or statistics. Clearly distinguish personal experience from general advice, and state the country or market when requirements differ. Check that links work and that quoted material is accurate and necessary.

Do not make guaranteed-income, guaranteed-sales or guaranteed-bestseller claims. Health, legal, tax and financial topics require particular care and should direct readers to qualified or official sources.

Length, structure and presentation

Most articles should be approximately 800–1,800 words, although usefulness matters more than length. Begin with the problem and why it matters, organise the body with meaningful headings, and finish with a practical conclusion rather than a sales pitch.

Submit clean text with a proposed title, a short summary, suggested sources and any original images you have permission to publish. Explain tables, screenshots and audio examples clearly, and provide alt text or enough context for us to create it.

Promotion and links

Guest posts are educational, not advertorials. Affiliate links, paid links, undisclosed sponsorships and keyword-rich links inserted for search rankings are not accepted. A relevant service or book may be mentioned when it is genuinely necessary to the article and the relationship is disclosed.

Accepted contributors may provide a brief biography and one appropriate link to their author or professional website. We may remove promotional passages or links that do not help the reader.

What to include in a pitch

Send a proposed title, a two- or three-paragraph outline, the intended reader, the problem the article will solve, relevant experience and links to one or two writing samples. If a draft already exists, provide a viewable document link. Please do not send unsolicited attachments.

Submitting an idea does not guarantee acceptance. A strong fit, original insight and demonstrable usefulness matter more than an author’s audience size.

Editing, rights and publication

We may edit accepted work for clarity, accuracy, accessibility, house style and length. Substantial changes will be discussed with the author. We may also update headlines, descriptions, internal links and topic tags so the article is easy to understand and find without changing its meaning.

The author retains copyright and grants Make My Ebook a non-exclusive licence to edit, publish, promote and archive the accepted article. The author must disclose conflicts of interest and confirm that the work does not infringe another person’s rights. Publication timing is at editorial discretion, and factual corrections may be made after publication.

Send your guest-post pitch

Use this form for guest-post proposals only. Please send a pitch or a viewable document link rather than an unsolicited attachment.

Explain the problem, the practical value and the main points you would cover.

The details you submit are used only to assess and respond to your proposal. See the privacy notice.
